A properly sized whole house fan can exchange the air in your entire home several times per hour — far more than a standard AC system, which recirculates the same air rather than replacing it.
This air exchange cools the home itself — the walls, floors, furniture, and framing that absorb heat during the day — not just the air temperature. That’s called “purging” the thermal mass, and it means your home stays cooler longer the next day even after the fan is turned off.
Why Colorado’s Climate Makes Whole House Fans Especially Effective
