Water Quality & Treatment Services

Better Water, Every Tap — One Call… It's Done!

Denver's water is among the hardest in the country. Done installs and services whole-home water softeners, filtration systems, and reverse osmosis units so every drop that comes out of your faucets is clean, balanced, and easy on your plumbing.

Denver Water Quality Specialists

Hard Water Is a Denver Reality — But It Doesn't Have to Be Yours

If you’ve noticed chalky buildup around your faucets, soap that doesn’t lather well, or water heaters and dishwashers dying ahead of schedule, hard water is almost certainly the cause. The Denver metro draws from the South Platte River basin and mountain snowmelt — water that picks up calcium and magnesium as it travels. Done has been helping Front Range homeowners treat their water since 1999, with solutions ranging from whole-home softeners to point-of-use reverse osmosis systems for drinking water. Explore our complete plumbing services to see how we protect and improve your home’s water from the meter to the tap.

We start with a water test so you know exactly what you’re dealing with — hardness level, chlorine, sediment, pH — before we recommend anything. Then we match you with the right equipment for your household size and water quality goals. Every system we install is sized correctly, plumbed cleanly, and backed by the same service that’s kept Denver homes running right for over two decades.

  • Water Testing First We test before we recommend. A quick on-site water quality test tells us your actual hardness, sediment load, and any other concerns — so the solution fits your water, not a generic sales pitch.
  • Whole-Home Treatment Our softeners and filtration systems treat water at the point of entry, so every faucet, shower, appliance, and water heater in your home benefits — not just one tap.
  • Maintenance and Salt Delivery We service what we sell. Done offers ongoing maintenance plans so your softener stays programmed correctly, the resin bed stays healthy, and you never run out of salt at an inconvenient time.

Warning Signs

Signs Your Denver Home Has a Water Quality Problem

Hard water and poor filtration leave clues everywhere. Here are the most common signs that your water needs treatment.

  • White Scale on Fixtures and Glassware

That chalky white crust around faucets, on showerheads, and on glassware after dishwashing is calcium carbonate — a direct sign of high water hardness. It also builds up inside pipes and appliances where you can't see it.

  • Soap That Won't Lather

Hard water minerals bind with soap, reducing lather and leaving a film on skin and hair. If you feel like you're using twice as much shampoo or hand soap as you should, hardness is the likely reason.

  • Appliances Failing Early

Scale buildup inside water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines forces them to work harder and shortens their service life. A softener is often cheaper in the long run than repeated appliance replacements.

  • Tap Water That Tastes or Smells Off

Chlorine taste, a faint sulfur smell, or water that simply doesn't taste clean are signs that filtration — whether carbon-based or reverse osmosis — could make a real difference in your daily water quality.

What We Do

Water Treatment Solutions for Denver Homes

Done installs, maintains, and repairs a full range of water quality systems — selected and sized after we actually test your water, not before.

  • Whole-Home Water Softeners Ion-exchange softeners remove calcium and magnesium before water reaches any fixture or appliance, eliminating scale buildup and protecting everything from your water heater to your showerhead.
  • Reverse Osmosis Drinking Systems Installed under the kitchen sink, an RO system filters water down to a very fine level — removing dissolved solids, chlorine byproducts, and other contaminants for clean, great-tasting drinking and cooking water.
  • Whole-Home Filtration Systems Carbon and sediment filters installed at the point of entry reduce chlorine, chloramines, and particulates throughout the home — a common pairing with a water softener for comprehensive treatment.
  • System Service and Repairs We service all major brands of water softeners and filters — cleaning resin tanks, replacing membranes, reprogramming regeneration cycles, and fixing salt bridges so your system keeps performing.

Had an excellent experience with It's Done Plumbing and Jake the technician. He showed up early, gave me an accurate estimate and finished the job to my complete satisfaction. Will definitely use their services again.

9/08/21 Had another plumbing issue and call Done again. Superb service. Caleb and Dalton did a terrific job. Fast, thorough, clean and helpful. I won't even consider calling anyone else.

2/7/23 Jaered from Done came and cleared a slow basement drain. Quick, professional and left no mess. Done is the only plumbing service I use. Always satisfied.

3/1/24 I was considering having a tankless hot water system installed. I reached out to Done! to see about an estimate. The price was higher than I can afford right now. The price is in line with what others are charging. I didn't have any ideas going in, so this is not a knock on Done! Tankless systems are expensive. I never felt any pressure from the tech. He was professional and courteous.

4/21/26 Decided to have a preemptive cable clean out due to some roots from a holly plant. We weren't having an issue, just decided to stay ahead of it. Jason was quick, courteous and efficient. A good experience.

I had a shower leak, Josh with Done came out, we thought is was fixed. He had to come back out due to the issue being worse and tried again but the issue was actually worse compared to the pervious day. Nothing at all against Josh, I would welcome him back again I just think minimal experience with older facets caused missing something. Then Terry Ryan came out and instead of tearing into my walls as Josh recommend he took everything apart and looked it over himself. He believed he found the issue in a seating nut and changed that out first, put everything together and my shower works great. With no tearing into the wall. Thank you Terry for taking the time to look everything over and having the experience and seeing a possible issue.
I also had my main water shut off valve replaced, which Josh did a great job with.
I am not happy with Done dispatchers and ran into issues with them but the plumbers were great.

I called Done Plumbing after a referral from my property management office. Terry got out here very quickly, and was quite knowledgeable. I had contacted them because of a leak in my ceiling (I'm n a condo with someone above me). H was excellent at figuring out the problem due to his many years of experience in plumbing. After he discovered that the problem would have to be resolved by the other condo's owner, I asked f he could install my new kitchen sink faucet. He was able to install it right then, without having to pull the sink. (Two other guys had looked at it previously, were not able to do the istallation, and predicted the sink would have to be pulled.) Terry was able to install the faucet without pulling the sink. it was expensive, but much less so that the quote I was given by my HVAC maintenance company.

Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is Denver's water, exactly?

Water hardness in the Denver metro varies by neighborhood and water source, but many areas see hardness levels that qualify as ‘hard’ to ‘very hard’ — enough to cause visible scale on fixtures and measurable impact on appliance lifespan. The only way to know your specific level is to test. We do that on-site at no extra charge during a water quality visit.

Will a water softener affect my water pressure?

A properly sized and installed softener has negligible impact on pressure. If you have existing low pressure, that’s worth addressing separately — see our pressure and backflow services. In fact, removing scale buildup from pipes over time can gradually improve flow in older plumbing.

Is softened water safe to drink?

Yes, for most people. Softened water contains slightly more sodium than untreated water because of the ion-exchange process, but levels are generally well below health thresholds. If you prefer, we can leave your kitchen cold water line unsoftened or add an under-sink reverse osmosis system for drinking and cooking water specifically.

How often does a water softener need maintenance?

At minimum, you’ll add salt to the brine tank every one to three months depending on household size and water hardness. The resin bed and control valve benefit from a professional inspection every year or two. Done offers ongoing maintenance plans so you don’t have to remember — and we’re always available for repairs if something’s off. You can also reach us through our water quality treatment page for service scheduling.
