Denver Water Quality Specialists
If you’ve noticed chalky buildup around your faucets, soap that doesn’t lather well, or water heaters and dishwashers dying ahead of schedule, hard water is almost certainly the cause. The Denver metro draws from the South Platte River basin and mountain snowmelt — water that picks up calcium and magnesium as it travels. Done has been helping Front Range homeowners treat their water since 1999, with solutions ranging from whole-home softeners to point-of-use reverse osmosis systems for drinking water. Explore our complete plumbing services to see how we protect and improve your home’s water from the meter to the tap.
We start with a water test so you know exactly what you’re dealing with — hardness level, chlorine, sediment, pH — before we recommend anything. Then we match you with the right equipment for your household size and water quality goals. Every system we install is sized correctly, plumbed cleanly, and backed by the same service that’s kept Denver homes running right for over two decades.
Warning Signs
Hard water and poor filtration leave clues everywhere. Here are the most common signs that your water needs treatment.
That chalky white crust around faucets, on showerheads, and on glassware after dishwashing is calcium carbonate — a direct sign of high water hardness. It also builds up inside pipes and appliances where you can't see it.
Hard water minerals bind with soap, reducing lather and leaving a film on skin and hair. If you feel like you're using twice as much shampoo or hand soap as you should, hardness is the likely reason.
Scale buildup inside water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines forces them to work harder and shortens their service life. A softener is often cheaper in the long run than repeated appliance replacements.
Chlorine taste, a faint sulfur smell, or water that simply doesn't taste clean are signs that filtration — whether carbon-based or reverse osmosis — could make a real difference in your daily water quality.
What We Do
Done installs, maintains, and repairs a full range of water quality systems — selected and sized after we actually test your water, not before.
How It Works
We don't guess at what your water needs. Here's our straightforward process for getting you cleaner water fast.
Call 833-539-9153 or book online. Let us know if you have specific concerns — taste, hardness, staining, appliance damage — so we come prepared.
Your plumber tests your water hardness, chlorine levels, sediment, and other key parameters on the spot. You see the actual numbers — not just a vague description of 'hard water.'
Based on your test results and household size, we recommend the right system — and only what you actually need. You get a clear price before we schedule the install.
We install the system neatly, program the settings for your water and usage, and walk you through how it works — including when to add salt or schedule maintenance.
Save on the work your home needs most.

Maintenance Membership
Total home service care, on a schedule.
Members get priority scheduling, seasonal HVAC tune-ups, an annual plumbing & electrical safety inspection, and exclusive discounts — for less than the cost of a single emergency call.
Water hardness in the Denver metro varies by neighborhood and water source, but many areas see hardness levels that qualify as ‘hard’ to ‘very hard’ — enough to cause visible scale on fixtures and measurable impact on appliance lifespan. The only way to know your specific level is to test. We do that on-site at no extra charge during a water quality visit.
A properly sized and installed softener has negligible impact on pressure. If you have existing low pressure, that’s worth addressing separately — see our pressure and backflow services. In fact, removing scale buildup from pipes over time can gradually improve flow in older plumbing.
Yes, for most people. Softened water contains slightly more sodium than untreated water because of the ion-exchange process, but levels are generally well below health thresholds. If you prefer, we can leave your kitchen cold water line unsoftened or add an under-sink reverse osmosis system for drinking and cooking water specifically.
At minimum, you’ll add salt to the brine tank every one to three months depending on household size and water hardness. The resin bed and control valve benefit from a professional inspection every year or two. Done offers ongoing maintenance plans so you don’t have to remember — and we’re always available for repairs if something’s off.
