Annual AC Maintenance

Preventive AC Maintenance That Saves You Money Before Summer Hits

Colorado summers can be unforgiving, and an air conditioner that has not been serviced in a year or two is working harder than it should be — costing you more on energy bills and quietly heading toward a breakdown. Done’s annual AC maintenance service gives your system a thorough inspection and tune-up so it runs efficiently, reliably, and at full capacity all season long. Our licensed technicians follow a detailed checklist covering everything from refrigerant levels and electrical connections to coil condition and drain lines.

Skipping annual maintenance is one of the most common reasons AC systems fail prematurely. Most manufacturers also require documented annual service to keep warranty coverage valid. If you want year-round protection and priority scheduling, our Care Club membership includes annual cooling and heating tune-ups plus additional member benefits. Call 833-539-9153 to book your maintenance visit today.

  • Prevent Costly Breakdowns Most AC failures do not happen without warning — they develop over time. A tune-up catches small problems before they become expensive emergency repairs, especially before peak summer demand.
  • Lower Energy Bills A clean, properly calibrated air conditioner uses less electricity to do the same job. Routine maintenance keeps your system running at its rated efficiency rating instead of burning extra energy to compensate for dirty coils or low refrigerant.
  • Protect Your Warranty Most AC manufacturers require documented annual maintenance to keep warranty coverage active. Done provides a written service record after every tune-up so you have the documentation you need.

Signs Your AC Needs a Tune-Up

When Did Your Air Conditioner Last Get a Professional Check-Up?

You do not always need a breakdown to know it is time for maintenance. These signs are your system's way of telling you it is due for a professional tune-up.

  • Rising Energy Bills

If your cooling costs are climbing but your usage habits have not changed, your AC is probably working harder than it should be. Dirty coils, low refrigerant, and worn components all reduce efficiency and drive up electricity use.

  • Longer Run Times to Reach Temperature

An AC that takes significantly longer to cool your home than it used to is losing efficiency. This can be caused by a dirty air filter, a fouled condenser coil, or the early signs of a refrigerant issue — all addressable during a tune-up.

  • No Service in Over a Year

The simple passage of time is reason enough. Manufacturers recommend annual professional maintenance, and a system that has not been serviced in 12 or more months is overdue — regardless of whether it seems to be running fine.

  • Dustier Air or Allergy Flare-Ups

Your AC plays a direct role in your home's indoor air quality. A clogged filter, dirty evaporator coil, or contaminated drain pan can circulate dust, mold spores, and allergens through your home every time the system runs.

What We Check

What Is Included in a Done AC Tune-Up

Our AC maintenance service is not a quick once-over. It is a complete system inspection and tune-up that covers every component affecting performance, efficiency, and reliability.

  • Refrigerant Level Check We measure your system's refrigerant charge and check for signs of leaks. Improper refrigerant levels reduce cooling capacity and put unnecessary strain on the compressor — the most expensive component in your system.
  • Electrical Component Inspection We test capacitors, contactors, and wiring connections for wear and proper function. Electrical issues are a leading cause of summer AC failures, and catching a failing capacitor during a tune-up costs a fraction of an emergency repair call.
  • Coil Cleaning and Airflow Check We clean the evaporator and condenser coils and verify that airflow through the system is unrestricted. Even a thin layer of dirt on the coils measurably reduces how efficiently your AC transfers heat.
  • Drain Line Flush and Safety Float Test A clogged condensate drain line is one of the most common causes of AC-related water damage inside Denver homes. We flush the drain line and test the safety float switch so a blockage does not turn into a ceiling or floor repair.

How It Works

Scheduling Your AC Tune-Up Is Simple

Done makes it easy to get your system serviced before the summer rush. Here is what the process looks like from start to finish.

  1. Book Your Appointment

Call 833-539-9153 or schedule online. Spring is our busiest season for tune-ups, so booking early — ideally before Memorial Day — helps you get your preferred date and avoid peak-season wait times.

  2. Technician Arrives On Time

Your licensed Done technician arrives at the scheduled time. We respect your day — no four-hour arrival windows. You will receive a heads-up when your technician is on the way.

  3. Full System Inspection and Tune-Up

We work through our complete maintenance checklist — cleaning, testing, measuring, and adjusting every component that affects how your AC performs. If we find something that needs attention, we tell you before doing any additional work.

  4. Written Report and Recommendations

At the end of the visit, you receive a written summary of everything we checked and the condition of each component. Any items that will need attention before or during the cooling season are clearly noted so you can plan accordingly.

I have used Done! Plumping many and do not ever use anyone else this particular visit was as always top notch in every way. DJ did an amazing job of explaining what was wrong and all of my options. He then did a really good job of explaining the pros and cons of each option. He truly heard any and all concerns I had and helped me to work through those concerns. He then listened to my questions and answered every question in detail while at no point making me feel like they where silly or repetitive questions. Finally after my decision was made he did a great job of telling me what would happen and what to expect. Last of all DJ made sure to review the ways I could save money and still resolve my issues. And the end of the job he should what he had done and left me feeling like I had received a great value for my money.

Had a visit today from. Jay for ac issue. Jay was great very informational and helpful answer all my questions and made sure I understood everything.

I moved into a new home recently, and after I got back from a long trip found that my A/C wouldn't turn on. I called a different company first, and the technician who came out refused to go up into the attic! He diagnosed the problem from the ground floor and told me I'd need a new motor blower installed.

So after that I called Done Plumbing & Heating, and they had a tech out the same day to actually inspect my problem. Turns out it was just that a little door on the furnace hadn't been screwed on properly (probably during the home inspection?). Literally within 2 minutes of Jamey going up the ladder into the attic, the A/C was back on and working like a dream. He only charged me $40, when I was thinking I'd be lucky to get things running for $1000! What a relief!

It's really wonderful to work with a company that has integrity, and I'll be using Done Plumbing & Heating very soon again without hesitation. I should have called them first!

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have my AC serviced?

Once a year is the standard recommendation for most central air conditioning systems — ideally in the spring before you need the system regularly. If you also have a heat pump that handles both heating and cooling, a fall tune-up for the heating season is worth scheduling as well. Annual service keeps your system under warranty and catches small issues before they become big ones.

What is the best time of year to schedule AC maintenance in Denver?

March through May is the ideal window for Denver homeowners. You want the system fully inspected before the first heat waves arrive in June, and scheduling before the spring rush means faster appointment availability. That said, if your AC has not been serviced and it is already summer, it is still worth booking — a late tune-up is always better than none.

What is the Done Care Club and is it worth it?

The Care Club is Done’s annual maintenance membership plan. It includes your AC tune-up, your heating system tune-up, priority scheduling, and additional member benefits. For homeowners who want to stay ahead of maintenance without having to remember to book each visit, it is a convenient and cost-effective option. Call 833-539-9153 for current membership details.

Will a tune-up help my AC last longer?

Yes, consistently maintained systems last significantly longer than neglected ones. Annual tune-ups reduce wear on the compressor and other major components by keeping refrigerant levels correct, airflow unrestricted, and electrical connections clean and tight. Skipping maintenance year after year is one of the most common reasons air conditioners fail before the end of their expected service life.
