EV Charger Installation

Stop Relying on a Regular Outlet to Charge Your Car

Plugging your electric vehicle into a standard 120V outlet is slow — we’re talking 3 to 5 miles of range per hour. A dedicated Level 2 home charger delivers 20–30 miles of range per hour, so your car is ready every morning without planning your life around a charge. Done has been wiring Denver-area homes since 1999, and our licensed electricians handle EV charger installations the right way: proper load calculations, code-compliant wiring, and a permit-ready setup that protects your home and your investment.

Whether your panel needs an upgrade before the install or you just need a new 240V circuit run to the garage, we do it all in one visit whenever possible. Learn more about our full range of electrical services or call us today to schedule your installation.

  • Level 2 Charging Speed A 240V dedicated circuit cuts charging time dramatically compared to a standard outlet — full charge overnight, every night.
  • Code-Compliant Installation Every install is permitted and inspected. Our licensed electricians follow NEC and local Denver-area requirements.
  • 24/7 Scheduling We work around your schedule. Same-day and next-day appointments available throughout the Denver metro area.

Signs You Need an Upgrade

Is Your Current Setup Holding Your EV Back?

Most homeowners start with a standard outlet and quickly realize it is not enough. Here are the situations where a dedicated home charger makes a real difference.

  • Overnight Charging Isn't Enough

If your car still isn't fully charged by morning on a regular outlet, you're not getting enough power. A Level 2 charger solves this completely.

  • Using an Extension Cord

Extension cords are a fire hazard when used with EV charging over long periods. A permanently wired outlet or charger is the safe, correct solution.

  • Tripping Breakers

EV charging draws sustained power that can overload an older circuit. Frequent trips mean your panel may need attention before the charger goes in.

  • No Outlet in the Garage

Many garages were built before EVs were common and lack appropriate outlets. We can run a new circuit exactly where you need it.

What We Install

Full-Service EV Charger Installation

Done handles every part of the job — from the panel assessment to the final connection and permit sign-off.

  • Level 2 EVSE Installation We install hardwired and plug-in Level 2 chargers from all major brands including ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Emporia, and manufacturer-provided units.
  • New 240V Circuit Runs We run a dedicated 240V circuit from your panel to the garage, driveway, or wherever your vehicle parks — cleanly routed and up to code.
  • Panel Capacity Assessment Before any install, we check your existing panel load. If you need a panel upgrade to support EV charging, we handle that too.
  • Permit and Inspection Coordination We pull the necessary permits and coordinate inspections so your installation is fully documented — important for home resale and insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a permit to install an EV charger at home?

Yes, in most Denver-area jurisdictions a permit is required for new circuit work, including EV charger installations. Done pulls the permit and coordinates the inspection for you — it’s included in our process, not an afterthought.

What if my electrical panel can't support a Level 2 charger?

Older panels sometimes don’t have the available capacity for a dedicated 240V circuit. During our on-site assessment we check your load and let you know if an upgrade is needed. We can handle both the panel upgrade and the charger install, so you’re not coordinating two separate contractors.

Can I supply my own EV charger and have Done install it?

Absolutely. If your vehicle came with a charger unit or you’ve already purchased one, we’ll install it. Just let us know the brand and model when you schedule so we can confirm it’s compatible with your home’s wiring requirements.

How long does a home EV charger installation take?

Most installations take between two and four hours once we’re on site. If the panel needs an upgrade or the circuit run is particularly long, it may extend the job. We’ll give you a realistic time estimate during the assessment.
