Hot Water Without Limits

Tankless Water Heater Installation and Service for Denver Homes

A tankless water heater heats water on demand — only when you need it — instead of keeping 40 or 50 gallons hot around the clock. The result is an essentially unlimited supply of hot water, no standby heat loss, and a unit that takes up a fraction of the space of a traditional tank. For the right home, it’s a genuinely better system. For the wrong home, it’s an expensive mismatch. Done will tell you which camp you fall into before recommending anything.

One important note for Denver homeowners: our hard water requires diligent descaling maintenance on tankless units, or performance degrades quickly. We install systems with this in mind and explain exactly what upkeep looks like. If you’d like to compare options, visit our water heater services page or check out our water quality treatment services — a whole-home water softener pairs extremely well with a tankless system here in Denver.

  • Endless Hot Water Tankless systems heat water as it flows through the unit, so the supply is continuous. No more cold showers at the end of the line.
  • Energy Savings on Standby Loss Traditional tanks heat and reheat stored water all day. Tankless units only fire when hot water is called for — which can meaningfully reduce your water heating energy use.
  • Space-Saving Wall-Mount Design A tankless unit mounts on the wall and is roughly the size of a large briefcase — freeing up floor space in utility closets, mechanical rooms, or garages.

Is Tankless Right for You?

Signs You Might Benefit from a Tankless Upgrade

Tankless systems aren't for everyone, but they're an excellent fit in these common scenarios.

  • Your Household Keeps Running Out of Hot Water

If a household with multiple showers, a dishwasher, and a washing machine is constantly fighting over hot water, a tankless system eliminates the bottleneck entirely.

  • Your Tank Water Heater Is Near End of Life

If you're already facing a replacement, it's the natural moment to consider whether a tankless upgrade makes sense. The installation infrastructure is already being touched, which reduces the incremental cost of going tankless.

  • You Need to Free Up Space

A 50-gallon tank takes up significant floor space. If your utility room is cramped or you want to reclaim that area, a wall-mounted tankless unit is a dramatic improvement.

  • You're Planning to Stay in the Home Long-Term

Tankless systems have a higher upfront cost than tank units. They make the most financial sense for homeowners who plan to be in the house long enough to recoup that investment through energy savings and a longer equipment lifespan.

What We Install and Service

Done's Tankless Water Heater Capabilities

We handle every aspect of tankless water heater installation, maintenance, and repair in Denver.

  • Gas Tankless Installation Natural gas tankless water heaters offer the fastest flow rates and are the most common choice for whole-home applications in Denver. We assess your gas line capacity and upgrade it if needed as part of the installation.
  • Electric Tankless Installation Point-of-use electric tankless units are ideal for supplementing hot water at a distant fixture or in an addition. We assess electrical panel capacity and size the unit correctly.
  • Descaling and Maintenance Denver's hard water requires annual descaling of tankless heat exchangers — skipping this maintenance leads to sharply reduced flow and premature failure. We offer maintenance visits to keep your system performing.
  • Tankless Repair Error codes, ignition failures, flow sensor issues, and heat exchanger problems — Done's plumbers are trained on major tankless brands and can diagnose and repair most issues on the first visit.

Our Installation Process

How Done Handles Tankless Water Heater Installations

Tankless installation is more involved than a tank swap, but our process keeps it organized and stress-free.

  1. Honest Needs Assessment

Before recommending a tankless system, we evaluate your household hot water demand, gas line size, venting options, and water hardness. If tankless isn't the best fit, we'll tell you — and explain what is.

  2. System Selection and Sizing

Tankless units are rated by flow rate (GPM). We select a unit sized for your peak demand — not the minimum that'll barely work, and not an oversized unit that adds unnecessary cost.

  3. Professional Installation

We handle all gas line work, venting, water connections, and electrical requirements. Everything is brought up to Denver code and tested thoroughly before we leave.

  4. Walkthrough and Maintenance Plan

We show you how to use the system, explain the annual descaling requirement, and make sure you know how to reach us if anything comes up. Setup support is part of the job.

Had an excellent experience with It's Done Plumbing and Jake the technician. He showed up early, gave me an accurate estimate and finished the job to my complete satisfaction. Will definitely use their services again.

9/08/21 Had another plumbing issue and call Done again. Superb service. Caleb and Dalton did a terrific job. Fast, thorough, clean and helpful. I won't even consider calling anyone else.

2/7/23 Jaered from Done came and cleared a slow basement drain. Quick, professional and left no mess. Done is the only plumbing service I use. Always satisfied.

3/1/24 I was considering having a tankless hot water system installed. I reached out to Done! to see about an estimate. The price was higher than I can afford right now. The price is in line with what others are charging. I didn't have any ideas going in, so this is not a knock on Done! Tankless systems are expensive. I never felt any pressure from the tech. He was professional and courteous.

4/21/26 Decided to have a preemptive cable clean out due to some roots from a holly plant. We weren't having an issue, just decided to stay ahead of it. Jason was quick, courteous and efficient. A good experience.

I had a shower leak, Josh with Done came out, we thought is was fixed. He had to come back out due to the issue being worse and tried again but the issue was actually worse compared to the pervious day. Nothing at all against Josh, I would welcome him back again I just think minimal experience with older facets caused missing something. Then Terry Ryan came out and instead of tearing into my walls as Josh recommend he took everything apart and looked it over himself. He believed he found the issue in a seating nut and changed that out first, put everything together and my shower works great. With no tearing into the wall. Thank you Terry for taking the time to look everything over and having the experience and seeing a possible issue.
I also had my main water shut off valve replaced, which Josh did a great job with.
I am not happy with Done dispatchers and ran into issues with them but the plumbers were great.

I called Done Plumbing after a referral from my property management office. Terry got out here very quickly, and was quite knowledgeable. I had contacted them because of a leak in my ceiling (I'm n a condo with someone above me). H was excellent at figuring out the problem due to his many years of experience in plumbing. After he discovered that the problem would have to be resolved by the other condo's owner, I asked f he could install my new kitchen sink faucet. He was able to install it right then, without having to pull the sink. (Two other guys had looked at it previously, were not able to do the istallation, and predicted the sink would have to be pulled.) Terry was able to install the faucet without pulling the sink. it was expensive, but much less so that the quote I was given by my HVAC maintenance company.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a tankless water heater cost to install in Denver?

Installation cost varies based on the unit size, whether gas line or venting upgrades are needed, and whether an existing tank needs to be removed. We give you a full, itemized quote before any work begins — no estimates that balloon later. Financing is available if the upfront cost is a concern.

Does Denver's hard water cause problems for tankless water heaters?

Yes, and it’s something we’re upfront about. Calcium scale builds up inside the heat exchanger faster in Denver than in softer-water cities. Without annual descaling, a tankless unit’s flow rate drops and the heat exchanger can fail prematurely. We recommend pairing a tankless system with a water softener or treatment system to reduce maintenance demands and extend the unit’s life.

Can a tankless water heater supply my whole house?

A properly sized whole-home gas tankless unit can supply multiple simultaneous fixtures — showers, dishwasher, laundry — without running out. The key word is ‘properly sized.’ Undersizing is the most common installation mistake. Our plumbers calculate your peak demand before recommending a flow rate.

How long do tankless water heaters last?

With proper maintenance — including annual descaling in Denver’s hard-water environment — tankless units typically last 15–20 years, meaningfully longer than a standard tank water heater. That longer lifespan is part of what makes the higher upfront cost worthwhile for homeowners planning to stay in their home long-term.
