Denver Metro Water Heater Installation

Water Heater Replacement in Denver

When your old water heater has run its course, Done makes the replacement process painless — fast arrival, upfront pricing, and a new unit installed and running the same day in most cases.

New Unit, No Hassle

Water Heater Replacement Done Right — and Done Fast

Most water heaters give about 8–12 years of reliable service in Denver — and less if they’ve been working against our hard water without regular maintenance. When the time comes, Done makes replacement straightforward: one call, one visit, and a new water heater installed and tested before we leave. We carry a range of tank units sized for Denver homes, and our master-licensed plumbers handle every part of the job from disconnecting the old unit to bringing everything up to current code.

Not sure whether replacement is the right call yet? Our plumbers will always check whether repair is a viable and cost-effective option first. If replacement is the better path, we’ll show you why and quote the full price before doing anything. No guesswork, no surprises.

  • Same-Day Installation We carry stocked units and can complete most water heater replacements in a single visit — so you're back to hot water the same day you call.
  • Code-Compliant Installation Our master-licensed plumbers follow Denver's current plumbing codes on every installation — proper venting, seismic strapping where required, and permitted work when applicable.
  • Old Unit Hauled Away We remove and dispose of your old water heater so you don't have to figure out what to do with a 150-pound tank in your garage.

Time for a New One?

Signs Your Water Heater Should Be Replaced

Repair isn't always the right answer. Here are four signs that replacement is the smarter investment.

  • The Unit Is 10+ Years Old

Once a tank water heater crosses 10 years — especially in Denver's hard-water environment — it becomes increasingly likely to develop leaks or major component failures. Proactive replacement beats an emergency.

  • Rust-Colored Hot Water

Rusty or brownish hot water means the tank interior is corroding. Once the steel lining is compromised, there's no repair that will hold long term — a new tank is the only real solution.

  • Active Tank Leak

A leak coming from the tank body itself — not a fitting or valve — means the steel wall has failed. That tank needs to come out before it causes water damage to your home.

  • Repair Costs More Than Half the Price of New

When a repair quote approaches or exceeds 50% of replacement cost on an aging unit, putting that money toward a new water heater almost always makes better financial sense.

What We Install

Water Heater Replacement Options We Offer

Done installs traditional tank water heaters and can discuss tankless upgrades — whichever fits your home and budget best.

  • Standard Gas Tank Water Heaters Natural gas models offer fast recovery and lower operating costs than electric in most Denver homes. We install 30-, 40-, and 50-gallon models to match your household demand.
  • Electric Tank Water Heaters Electric units are a strong choice for homes without gas service or in spaces where venting a gas unit isn't practical. We carry a range of sizes and efficiency ratings.
  • High-Efficiency and Hybrid Models Heat pump water heaters (hybrid electric) use significantly less energy than standard electric tanks. We'll let you know if your space qualifies and whether the long-term savings justify the upfront cost difference.

The Replacement Process

What to Expect When Done Replaces Your Water Heater

We've streamlined this process so it's as easy on you as possible.

  1. Call or Schedule Online

Reach Done at 833-539-9153 anytime — including nights and weekends. We'll get you on the schedule and confirm what information we need to bring the right unit.

  2. Free On-Site Assessment

Your plumber evaluates your current setup — fuel type, venting, space, and household hot water demand — before recommending a specific replacement unit and quoting the full price.

  3. Old Unit Out, New Unit In

We disconnect and remove the old water heater, install the new one to code, make all connections, and verify there are no leaks before turning the water back on.

  4. Test and Walk You Through It

We fire up the new unit, confirm it's reaching temperature correctly, and walk you through basic operation and maintenance — including how Denver's hard water affects it over time.

Had an excellent experience with It's Done Plumbing and Jake the technician. He showed up early, gave me an accurate estimate and finished the job to my complete satisfaction. Will definitely use their services again.

9/08/21 Had another plumbing issue and call Done again. Superb service. Caleb and Dalton did a terrific job. Fast, thorough, clean and helpful. I won't even consider calling anyone else.

2/7/23 Jaered from Done came and cleared a slow basement drain. Quick, professional and left no mess. Done is the only plumbing service I use. Always satisfied.

3/1/24 I was considering having a tankless hot water system installed. I reached out to Done! to see about an estimate. The price was higher than I can afford right now. The price is in line with what others are charging. I didn't have any ideas going in, so this is not a knock on Done! Tankless systems are expensive. I never felt any pressure from the tech. He was professional and courteous.

4/21/26 Decided to have a preemptive cable clean out due to some roots from a holly plant. We weren't having an issue, just decided to stay ahead of it. Jason was quick, courteous and efficient. A good experience.

I had a shower leak, Josh with Done came out, we thought is was fixed. He had to come back out due to the issue being worse and tried again but the issue was actually worse compared to the pervious day. Nothing at all against Josh, I would welcome him back again I just think minimal experience with older facets caused missing something. Then Terry Ryan came out and instead of tearing into my walls as Josh recommend he took everything apart and looked it over himself. He believed he found the issue in a seating nut and changed that out first, put everything together and my shower works great. With no tearing into the wall. Thank you Terry for taking the time to look everything over and having the experience and seeing a possible issue.
I also had my main water shut off valve replaced, which Josh did a great job with.
I am not happy with Done dispatchers and ran into issues with them but the plumbers were great.

I called Done Plumbing after a referral from my property management office. Terry got out here very quickly, and was quite knowledgeable. I had contacted them because of a leak in my ceiling (I'm n a condo with someone above me). H was excellent at figuring out the problem due to his many years of experience in plumbing. After he discovered that the problem would have to be resolved by the other condo's owner, I asked f he could install my new kitchen sink faucet. He was able to install it right then, without having to pull the sink. (Two other guys had looked at it previously, were not able to do the istallation, and predicted the sink would have to be pulled.) Terry was able to install the faucet without pulling the sink. it was expensive, but much less so that the quote I was given by my HVAC maintenance company.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a water heater replacement take?

Most standard tank replacements take two to three hours from arrival to hot water flowing again. If a permit is required or non-standard venting work is involved, it may take longer — your plumber will let you know before starting.

What size water heater do I need?

The right size depends on your household size and how you use hot water. As a rough guide: 30–40 gallons for 1–2 people, 40–50 gallons for 3–4, and 50+ gallons for larger households. Our plumber will factor in your home’s actual demand and recommend accordingly.

Does Done offer financing for water heater replacement?

Yes. We understand a water heater replacement is often unplanned. Financing options are available to help spread the cost. Ask your technician or mention it when you call and we’ll walk you through what’s available.

Will my new water heater need a permit?

In many cases, yes — Denver and surrounding municipalities require permits for water heater replacements. Done handles this process as part of the installation. We’ll let you know what’s required for your specific location and take care of the paperwork.
