How hard is Denver's water, exactly?
Water hardness in the Denver metro varies by neighborhood and water source, but many areas see hardness levels that qualify as ‘hard’ to ‘very hard’ — enough to cause visible scale on fixtures and measurable impact on appliance lifespan. The only way to know your specific level is to test. We do that on-site at no extra charge during a water quality visit.
Will a water softener affect my water pressure?
A properly sized and installed softener has negligible impact on pressure. If you have existing low pressure, that’s worth addressing separately — see our pressure and backflow services. In fact, removing scale buildup from pipes over time can gradually improve flow in older plumbing.
Is softened water safe to drink?
Yes, for most people. Softened water contains slightly more sodium than untreated water because of the ion-exchange process, but levels are generally well below health thresholds. If you prefer, we can leave your kitchen cold water line unsoftened or add an under-sink reverse osmosis system for drinking and cooking water specifically.
How often does a water softener need maintenance?
At minimum, you’ll add salt to the brine tank every one to three months depending on household size and water hardness. The resin bed and control valve benefit from a professional inspection every year or two.
