Licensed Backflow & Pressure Specialists

Two Invisible Problems That Deserve Real Attention

Most homeowners don’t think about backflow prevention or water pressure until something goes wrong — a failed inspection, a pipe joint that springs a leak, or water that trickles instead of flows. Both issues affect every faucet, fixture, and appliance in your home, and both can quietly cause damage long before you notice. Done has been solving these problems for Denver metro homeowners since 1999, with the licensing and equipment to handle everything from basic pressure checks to certified backflow testing. See our full lineup of plumbing services to learn how we protect your home’s water system from every angle.

Colorado requires annual backflow preventer testing for most residential irrigation systems and any cross-connection with a non-potable source. Our certified testers complete the inspection, file the required report with your local water authority, and replace or repair the device on the spot if it fails. On the pressure side, we diagnose low or high pressure, install and set pressure-reducing valves, and add thermal expansion tanks to systems with backflow preventers — protecting your water heater and pipes from the stress of pressure spikes.

  • Certified Backflow Testers Our plumbers carry the state certifications required to test, repair, and replace backflow prevention devices — and to file the documentation your water provider requires.
  • Water Pressure Diagnosis We measure your actual supply pressure, identify whether the source is the street main or your pressure-reducing valve, and give you an honest assessment of what needs to change.
  • Code-Compliant Installations Every backflow device and pressure-regulating valve we install meets current Colorado plumbing code, protecting both your home and your relationship with your water utility.

Warning Signs

Signs You May Have a Pressure or Backflow Problem

Water pressure and backflow issues often announce themselves in subtle ways. Here's what to look for before a small problem turns into a costly one.

  • Weak Flow at Multiple Fixtures

If pressure is low throughout your home — not just at one faucet — the culprit is usually a failing pressure-reducing valve, a partially closed main, or low supply pressure from the street.

  • Banging Pipes (Water Hammer)

That loud bang when you shut off a faucet quickly is water hammer — a pressure surge that stresses pipe joints over time. High incoming pressure or missing air chambers are common causes.

  • Failed Annual Backflow Inspection

Denver-area water utilities require annual certification on most backflow preventers. A failed test means the device must be repaired or replaced before you're back in compliance.

  • Water Heater Pressure Relief Valve Dripping

A T&P valve that drips or weeps often signals thermal expansion — pressure building inside a closed system with no place to go. This is a direct symptom of missing or undersized expansion tank.

What We Do

Backflow and Pressure Services We Provide

From annual compliance testing to full pressure system upgrades, Done handles the complete range of backflow prevention and water pressure services for Denver homes.

  • Annual Backflow Testing & Certification We test your backflow preventer, document the results, and file the required report with your water authority — keeping you compliant without any paperwork on your end.
  • Backflow Device Repair & Replacement When a device fails its test or shows wear, we repair or replace it on the spot using code-approved parts and configurations for your specific connection type.
  • Pressure-Reducing Valve Service We adjust, rebuild, or replace your PRV to bring incoming pressure into the recommended range, protecting fixtures, appliances, and pipe connections from long-term stress.
  • Thermal Expansion Tank Installation Homes with backflow preventers on a closed system need an expansion tank to absorb pressure spikes. We size and install the right tank to protect your water heater and plumbing.

Had an excellent experience with It's Done Plumbing and Jake the technician. He showed up early, gave me an accurate estimate and finished the job to my complete satisfaction. Will definitely use their services again.

9/08/21 Had another plumbing issue and call Done again. Superb service. Caleb and Dalton did a terrific job. Fast, thorough, clean and helpful. I won't even consider calling anyone else.

2/7/23 Jaered from Done came and cleared a slow basement drain. Quick, professional and left no mess. Done is the only plumbing service I use. Always satisfied.

3/1/24 I was considering having a tankless hot water system installed. I reached out to Done! to see about an estimate. The price was higher than I can afford right now. The price is in line with what others are charging. I didn't have any ideas going in, so this is not a knock on Done! Tankless systems are expensive. I never felt any pressure from the tech. He was professional and courteous.

4/21/26 Decided to have a preemptive cable clean out due to some roots from a holly plant. We weren't having an issue, just decided to stay ahead of it. Jason was quick, courteous and efficient. A good experience.

I had a shower leak, Josh with Done came out, we thought is was fixed. He had to come back out due to the issue being worse and tried again but the issue was actually worse compared to the pervious day. Nothing at all against Josh, I would welcome him back again I just think minimal experience with older facets caused missing something. Then Terry Ryan came out and instead of tearing into my walls as Josh recommend he took everything apart and looked it over himself. He believed he found the issue in a seating nut and changed that out first, put everything together and my shower works great. With no tearing into the wall. Thank you Terry for taking the time to look everything over and having the experience and seeing a possible issue.
I also had my main water shut off valve replaced, which Josh did a great job with.
I am not happy with Done dispatchers and ran into issues with them but the plumbers were great.

I called Done Plumbing after a referral from my property management office. Terry got out here very quickly, and was quite knowledgeable. I had contacted them because of a leak in my ceiling (I'm n a condo with someone above me). H was excellent at figuring out the problem due to his many years of experience in plumbing. After he discovered that the problem would have to be resolved by the other condo's owner, I asked f he could install my new kitchen sink faucet. He was able to install it right then, without having to pull the sink. (Two other guys had looked at it previously, were not able to do the istallation, and predicted the sink would have to be pulled.) Terry was able to install the faucet without pulling the sink. it was expensive, but much less so that the quote I was given by my HVAC maintenance company.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does my backflow preventer need to be tested?

Most Denver-area water utilities require annual testing for backflow prevention assemblies connected to irrigation systems or any cross-connection with a non-potable source. You’ll typically receive a notice from your water provider before the deadline. Done can test and certify the device in a single visit.

What is the normal water pressure range for a home?

Most plumbing fixtures and appliances are designed to operate between 40 and 80 psi. Below 40 psi and you’ll notice weak flow; above 80 psi and you’re putting unnecessary stress on pipe joints, valves, and appliance supply lines. If your PRV is set outside this range, we can adjust or replace it.

Do I need a thermal expansion tank if I already have a backflow preventer?

Almost certainly yes. A backflow preventer turns your plumbing into a closed system — water heated in your tank has nowhere to expand, so pressure spikes instead. An expansion tank absorbs that pressure and protects your water heater and plumbing from premature wear. We can inspect your setup and advise you. You can also explore our water heater services if you have related concerns.

My irrigation system failed its backflow test — what happens next?

A failed test means the device needs to be repaired or replaced before your water utility will clear the violation. Done carries common backflow assembly parts on our trucks, so we can often repair or swap the device the same day as the test. We’ll re-test after the repair and file the updated certification on your behalf.
