Denver's Heat Pump Specialists

Efficient Heating and Cooling Built for Colorado Winters

Colorado’s climate is unique: summer afternoons can hit the 90s while spring mornings still drop near freezing. A heat pump handles both sides of that equation in one efficient system — cooling your home in summer and extracting heat from outside air to warm it in winter, even when temperatures fall. Modern cold-climate heat pumps maintain strong performance well below freezing, making them a genuinely smart choice for the Denver metro. Done has been installing and servicing heat pumps across the Front Range since 1999. Whether you’re replacing an aging furnace and AC with a single system or adding a heat pump to supplement existing equipment, our licensed technicians will size and install it correctly so you’re comfortable every season. Learn more about our full range of cooling services.

  • Heating and Cooling in One A single heat pump replaces both your furnace and central AC, simplifying equipment and potentially lowering energy bills year-round.
  • Highly Energy-Efficient Heat pumps move heat rather than generate it, making them significantly more efficient than electric resistance heating at comparable comfort levels.
  • 24/7 Emergency Service If your heat pump fails in the middle of a Colorado cold snap, Done's technicians are available around the clock — call 833-539-9153 any time.

Is Your Heat Pump Struggling?

Signs You Need Heat Pump Repair

Heat pumps often give early warning before they fail completely. If you notice any of these issues, schedule a service call before a minor problem becomes a costly repair.

  • Blowing Lukewarm Air in Heat Mode

If your heat pump is running but the air coming out of your vents feels barely warm, it may have a refrigerant issue, a failing reversing valve, or a dirty air handler coil.

  • Unusual Noises — Grinding, Clicking, or Squealing

A well-running heat pump is relatively quiet. Grinding or squealing often points to a motor or bearing problem; persistent clicking can signal a failing capacitor or contactor.

  • System Runs Constantly Without Reaching Temperature

A heat pump that never cycles off may be undersized, low on refrigerant, or working against a frozen coil — all of which waste energy and shorten the system's life.

  • Ice Buildup on the Outdoor Unit

Some frost in heating mode is normal and should defrost automatically. Heavy ice that doesn't clear is a sign of a defrost control problem, low refrigerant, or restricted airflow.

I have used Done! Plumping many and do not ever use anyone else this particular visit was as always top notch in every way. DJ did an amazing job of explaining what was wrong and all of my options. He then did a really good job of explaining the pros and cons of each option. He truly heard any and all concerns I had and helped me to work through those concerns. He then listened to my questions and answered every question in detail while at no point making me feel like they where silly or repetitive questions. Finally after my decision was made he did a great job of telling me what would happen and what to expect. Last of all DJ made sure to review the ways I could save money and still resolve my issues. And the end of the job he should what he had done and left me feeling like I had received a great value for my money.

Had a visit today from. Jay for ac issue. Jay was great very informational and helpful answer all my questions and made sure I understood everything.

I moved into a new home recently, and after I got back from a long trip found that my A/C wouldn't turn on. I called a different company first, and the technician who came out refused to go up into the attic! He diagnosed the problem from the ground floor and told me I'd need a new motor blower installed.

So after that I called Done Plumbing & Heating, and they had a tech out the same day to actually inspect my problem. Turns out it was just that a little door on the furnace hadn't been screwed on properly (probably during the home inspection?). Literally within 2 minutes of Jamey going up the ladder into the attic, the A/C was back on and working like a dream. He only charged me $40, when I was thinking I'd be lucky to get things running for $1000! What a relief!

It's really wonderful to work with a company that has integrity, and I'll be using Done Plumbing & Heating very soon again without hesitation. I should have called them first!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do heat pumps work in Denver's cold winters?

Yes — modern cold-climate heat pumps are engineered to operate efficiently well below freezing. The Denver metro rarely sees extended stretches of extreme cold, and today’s systems are rated for reliable heating performance even on the coldest Front Range nights. Your Done technician will recommend a system with the right cold-weather rating for your area.

Is a heat pump cheaper to operate than a gas furnace?

It depends on current gas and electricity rates in your area. Heat pumps are substantially more efficient than electric resistance heating and can compete favorably with gas in many situations — especially at moderate temperatures. We can walk you through an honest comparison based on your current utility costs during your assessment.

Can a heat pump work with my existing ductwork?

In most cases, yes. However, older or leaky ductwork can significantly reduce a heat pump’s efficiency. During our assessment we’ll evaluate your ducts and let you know if any repairs or modifications are needed. If your home doesn’t have ducts at all, a ductless mini-split may be the better solution.

Does Done offer financing for heat pump installations?

Yes. Heat pump installations are a meaningful investment, and we offer flexible financing options to make the upfront cost manageable. Visit our financing page for current terms, or ask your technician during the in-home assessment.
